Session Description: Looking for a new way to spice up your book reports? In this workshop,
put a 21st century spin on the classic essay with basic computer programming. In this hands-on
session, participants will become familiar with the block-based computer language in Scratch
Animation and learn how to tie language arts and computer science together in one integrated

Session Outcomes: Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. become familiar with Scratch Animation software and
2. create a short animation to either summarize or create an alternate ending for a familiar fairy tale or children’s story.
3. leave with increased awareness of and confidence with block-based computer programming languages
4. incorporate computer science into their classrooms.
