Time, Place, Path, and Pace: Removing Walls that Inhibit Student Learning

Session Description: Adults have built administrative walls that often prevent high quality learning from happening both inside and away from the classroom. Bell schedules, Carnegie units, and walls often serve to wrangle kids but limit in depth study and learning. Adalyn will discuss with participants the vision of a high school student of what school and learning could like if grown-ups were to remove barriers to learning.

Session Outcomes: Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Explain the barriers that grown-ups put in place that inhibit learning.
2. Understand that removing these barriers will lead to higher levels of engagement and achievement.
3. Begin to formulate a plan for how to move forward with the customization of learning in their environments.
