Session Description: The Writing Assessment session will target 20 educators, 5 from each of these specific grade levels: 3, 5, 7 and 9. The purpose of this convening is to further educators' understanding of the WY-TOPP Writing Assessment. Educators will expand their knowledge regarding the three types of writing (i.e., informative, opinion, and argumentative) and their associated rubrics, quality texts, and prompt development. Educators will work collaboratively to evaluate/score sample student responses using one of the three rubrics. Educators may volunteer to participate in a session extension which consists of the following: select a sample text and prompt (from existing examples),  administer the chosen text and prompt to students, collect and score responses, and attend an in-person meeting or Webinar to identify a model papers representing each score point of the rubric.

Session Outcomes: Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. learn about the writing assessment process
2. use a rubric to score writing responses
3. apply their writing knowledge to their classrooms
4. submit student sample responses
