Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

"Alexa, how far is one mile in meters?" "Alexa, what time is sunrise?" "Alexa, how do you spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?" Perhaps you have an Amazon Echo at home or maybe you've considered buying one. Did you know you can also use conversational artificial intelligence devices in the classroom? We placed and tracked 90 Echo Dots reaching more than 850 students in northern Idaho to see how teachers, administrators, and students would use the device and what they thought of it. In this practical presentation, we’ll talk about the challenges of deploying the devices as well as some of the findings.
Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Define conversational AI
2. Identify conversational AI devices that can be used in education
3. Describe the benefits and challenges of using conversational AI in the classroom
4. Discuss possible uses for conversational AI in your classroom
