Tonia is a K20 educator, Google Certified Innovator, & Google Certified Trainer with 20 years of instructional design and eLearning project management experience. She completed her PhD in Learning, Design, and Technology at the University of Georgia, and is an associate professor of Learning Sciences at the University of Idaho, focusing her teaching and research interests on:
● Technology Integration/Emerging Technologies
● Instructional and Multimedia Design
● Creativity & Collaboration
● Learner Engagement

Whether it's formal classrooms or nonformal learning spaces like makerspaces, traditional classrooms or online and hybrid learning environments, the focus is on how we empower learners of all ages to be interdisciplinary and take control of their own learning experiences. Tonia coordinates the Secondary Science program in the UI Department of Curriculum & Instruction and serves as the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences Associate Dean for Assessment & Accreditation.
